Sharia cooperatives are present as an alternative solution in strengthening the community's economy through the principles of justice, help-help, and risk sharing in accordance with Islamic sharia. This article aims to analyze the role of sharia cooperatives in community-based economic empowerment in Indonesia, by reviewing the effectiveness of their operational mechanisms, member involvement, and impact on socio-economic welfare. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach on several sharia cooperatives in Indonesia. The results of the study show that sharia cooperatives are able to increase financial inclusion, build social solidarity, and support community economic independence. The obstacles faced include limited capital, financial literacy of members, and regulations that are not optimal. This study recommends institutional strengthening of sharia cooperatives and supporting policies that are more responsive to the community-based economy.
